The network of quiet roads leading from Kirriemuir to the Angus Glens, each with a wealth of parking and picnic spots, affords everyone the opportunity to enjoy some of the most strikingly beautiful scenery in Scotland.

Hill walking and climbing are also ideally catered for in the contrasting landscape.

If a round of golf appeals more to you, then Kirriemuir is a good starting point to play the nearby courses of Forfar, Edzell, Brechin, Blairgowrie, Letham Grange (2), Guthrie Castle, Carnoustie (3) with Kirriemuir's own heathland course only one mile from the hotel. In fact there are over 30 courses within 1 hours drive from the Thrums!

Fishing is equally catered for with the area offering excellent trout fishing and containing some of the finest salmon rivers in Scotland.

Superb skiing is close by, with Glenshee a major ski resort only 30 minutes drive away.
